Capitalism (2023)

Medium

Single-channel digital video, CRT monitor, rolling AV cart, media player, electrical cords

Capitalism is a looping video installation presented on an institutional AV cart, evoking the aesthetic of outdated classroom media. The piece explores systems of surveillance, automation, and industrial repetition, using manipulated footage and digital overlays to critique capitalist cycles of production and consumption. By repurposing a once-ubiquitous educational display method, the work invites viewers to reflect on how capitalist ideologies are not only taught but embedded into the infrastructure of our everyday environments.

The installation draws attention to the sterile language of corporate architecture and mechanized labor, juxtaposing nostalgia with unease. It is both a critique and a reflection on how educational and economic systems intersect to shape identity, obedience, and cultural values.
